Hey hey! Guess who's been out of the loop this winter? The good news is my knee didn't lock once at WPO! The bad news is I'd totally forgotten about that conversation and haven't been on the boards or at practice much at all lately. I'd be happy to get this up and running, though.
I'll also be co-running Armageddon this summer (which you should all go to!), so you all get to be my guinea pigs!
For
date and location I'm working with Sync to book the park right now, shooting for March 27th. I know that's two weeks later than last year, but we're tight for time and I don't know of any conflicts with that date (and the 20th is terrible for me). Speak now or forever hold your peace.
For
food, I'm planning on cheap DIY sandwiches, chips, powdered gatorade, and potluck baked goods or anything else anyone wants to volunteer - cheap, easy, flexible, filling, and something you can eat whenever you want.
For
weapons check, I will probably need about 3 volunteers willing to do it until it's done, and probably 4-5 more to start out. I will help until we get enough weapons checked that people can start fighting, at which point I'm on heralding. I'm also hoping to have a nifty contraption out for testing flex.
If no one objects, I would like to make this a Dag/Bel weapons check. That is, if a weapon meets the rules (and hit, etc.) to pass in at least one sport it passes. There are not a lot of significant differences in the standards, but I'm hoping it would help pull some more people from other realms, as nearly all of our nearby neighbors are Bel. Obviously, unsafe is unsafe in any sport, none of the rules differences either way have a significant impact on safety. This would only apply to weapons check, not field fighting.
If people don't like that idea, we can stick to Dag-only.
For
heralding, I will plan to act as head herald for the entire day. Depending on turnout and scenario, I will need 1-2 others rotating through at all times, as well as occasionally more for counting, line judging, etc. I will draw up a rough schedule of games by this weekend, but mostly I'm thinking to have a mix of small-group regen (teams of 2-4), straight-up two team field battles, and various regen and non-regen scenario battles; bridge, CTF, portal, Aztec Football, Jugging, King, Fetch if people have too much energy, Zombies if they have too little, etc.
I am planning to have minimal called water breaks. We will have gatorade in the pavillion and water on the edges of the field and regular reminders, but letting people manage themselves really keeps the fighting going.
Medics: Sync, are you willing, and is there anything you need?
For
materials, here's a wishlist, much of which is probably already accounted for somewhere:
* Lots of fighters

* That pop-up pavillion for troll again
* Any and all water/gatorade jugs
* Does anyone have the headbands from last year?
* I have one scale, I'd like a second
* Bow tester
* Any available field cones (I'm going to get some, anyone else who has some would be great)
* Field paint
* Baked goods, other food anyone would like to contribute
For
last minute preparations, I'd like to have a build/planning/token-making/etc. session on Sunday, March 21st after practice... somewhere. Baker? Twinkle? Anyone else?
Things I'd like people to
Volunteer for:
1) Schilling to area Dag groups/dag boards - I've got the Bel side covered. Obviously we need a firm date & time first.
2) Troll/Weapons Check/Heralding. I'm least concerned about Weapons check, most would like plenty of heralds willing to work ~45-60min shifts so everybody gets plenty of time to fight.
3) Token making, headbands too if necessary
4) Food - like I said, I'm thinking just simple sandwich and snacks, plus whatever people want to make. I'll bake something, if others want to as well, or make soup or bread or something else tasty.
Feedback I'd love:
* Ideas for tokens
* Any preferred/hated battles
* Important things I've left out because I'm dumb
* Dumb things I've left in because I'm important.
* Clever thoughts because I'm out of them.
* Etc.
